The Sheba fertility preservation workshop at Sheba medical center is a 3-day hands-on clinical and laboratory program designed for medical doctors, embryologists and scientists who are interested in learning and discussing principals, clinical issues and different techniques of fertility preservation. The workshop will focus on cryopreservation of ovarian cortical tissue.
Our fertility preservation center is a multidisciplinary center consulting thousands of cancer
patients. Cryopreservation of ovarian tissue has been preformed in hundreds of patients. After our pioneer report (Meirow et.al. NEJM 2005) we have succeeded to achieve additional pregnancies post transplantation of ovarian tissue.
Clinical sessions will be held by our top fertility experts and advisors and will include consultations, decision making, surgery and follow–up. Case- studies will be analyzed. Lectures will focus on storing ovarian tissue, the safety of ovarian tissue cryopreservation as well as other techniques for fertility preservation for special groups of patients such as breast cancer and gynecology oncology patients.
The laboratory sessions are hands-on exercises. Each participant will obtain detailed practical knowledge accompanied by relevant literature about the steps involved in the procedures of preparation, cryopreservation and thawing of the ovarian tissue.
